Lorandi Smith (Lollie)
Educational Psychologist | Opvoedkundige SielkundigeAbout me
I have always had a passion to work with people and therefore I studied Psychology. I did my Honours degree in Psychology in 1997 and then did my Psychometrist internship and was registered as a Psychometrist with the HPCSA in 1999. From 2000 my husband and I lived and worked in the USA, but felt a deep sense to return to our country in 2003. In 2008 I started my own business, called Mom2Mom, offering support and guidance to parents.
In 2010, I completed an internship at Crescent Clinic Private Psychiatric Clinic. In 2011 I started with the M.A Educational Psychology programme at Wits. In 2012 I completed my internship at St Mary’s school as part of the M.A degree. My responsibilities included individual therapy, group therapy, assessments for IEB concessions, offering parent and teacher workshops as well as offering emotional literacy to ages three to five.
Parent infant psychotherapy is an area of great interest and I am committed to continued education in this area. I am passionate about working with children of all ages and enjoy guiding parents in the parental journey. Psychodynamic theorists and Object relations’ theorists influence my work and when working with children with anxiety I have found Cognitive Behavioral Therapy very effective.
